OPENING WORDS

Psalm 33:13-17, 22

13 The Lord looks down from heaven;
    he sees all the children of man;
14 from where he sits enthroned he looks out
    on all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 he who fashions the hearts of them all
    and observes all their deeds.
16 The king is not saved by his great army;
    a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
17 The war horse is a false hope for salvation,
    and by its great might it cannot rescue.

22 Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
    even as we hope in you.

INTRODUCTION

Having a church building will provide Trinity with so many opportunities for rest and service: it will provide us with a place of permanence in the community; it will relieve us from having to set up and tear down week after week and year after year; it will better enable us to invite others to worship in a church building and not merely a gym. And while all of these things are good and desirable, they cannot compare to the eternal importance of remaining rooted in the gospel. May Trinity’s building never outlive its gospel fidelity. Today, pray along these lines.

PRAYER

  1. While the impact of having a building will change many things for Trinity, it will never compare to the impact of how God’s grace in Christ Jesus changes everything. The church’s core identity in Christ never changes. Pray for Trinity’s faithfulness to the gospel both now and in the future.
  2. Pray that Trinity’s building would be but an instrument in God’s hands for the outworking of gospel faithfulness in Owasso, the region, and the world.
  3. Pray that that Trinity would never would exist to serve its building, but that it would always exist to serve and promote the gospel.
