The Key to It All

Have You Found What’s Missing? | The Key to Everything

Have you ever truly lost your keys? Not just misplaced them, but felt that sinking realization that you’re locked out, searching every pocket and cushion in a mounting panic?

That "missing" feeling is more than just a daily frustration; it’s a spiritual reality. We often feel a yearning hole in our hearts—a sense that we are separated from something essential. In this message, we explore John 12:12–26 to discover that the "missing key" to our souls has a name: Jesus Christ.

What Pastor Blake Covered:

Just as the prophet Ezekiel saw the glory of God depart from the Temple, John shows us that same glory returning to Jerusalem—not in a fiery chariot, but in flesh and blood. We break this passage down into three movements:

  • The Missing Key (vv. 12-16): While the crowds looked for a political conqueror (the "theology of glory"), Jesus entered on a donkey—majesty clothed in meekness.

  • The Ironic Witnesses (vv. 17-19): Discover how even the enemies of the Gospel inadvertently help it spread. As Tertullian said, "The blood of Christians is seed."

  • The Unexpected Discovery (vv. 20-26): The arrival of the Greeks signals that the "hour has come." Jesus reveals the divine paradox: that life only comes through death, and a grain of wheat must fall to the earth to bear fruit.

Key Takeaway:

If you’ve been trying to "jiggle the lock" of life with keys fashioned by your own pride or effort, it’s time to rest. The door of salvation is open. In Christ, our exile ends, our anxiety fades, and we find the peace our souls have been searching for.
